Two works in progress and one I’m calling finished.
I’m currently preparing for a September show down in San Antonio, and have continued some of the ranch motifs from the March show. This is a work in progress…
Liz and I are doing a show together in Charlottesville next month, our first full-scale collaboration. Check out the blurb below and come to the opening April 6!
“InAll the Vast and Lonely Reaches is a collaborative effort between husband and wife artists Matt and Liz Kleberg, investigating the project of expedition through painting, film, installation, and sculpture. The work is inspired by an historic scientific expedition and attempts to articulate a common spirit of discovery.”
Some installation views from the show…
Thanks for everyone who made it to the opening. Here’s a short video I filmed of the show…
A portrait of Liz, very rough but possibly finished. I went on a tear the other day and this happened. The next day I fiddled with it for about twenty minutes before deciding I needed to leave it alone.
My upcoming show opens at the beginning of March, and I still haven’t come up with a name for it. The above images are the two most recent projects in the studio, both not quite finished but close. The long horizontal canvas is 12 feet across, the largest I’ve done to date.
A couple more from the studio- the top image is of my grandfather. The bottom image is oil and pastel on canvas. I used clear gesso to use the natural cotton color as a ground.
I thought I’d throw up two other projects I’ve been working- neither of them seem finished, and are both sitting to the side “cooking” at the moment.
